big chunk of steel.
or in other words, a manhole cover.
i got a hold of a local metal recycling company and was able to go and pick up (literally) a manhole cover to use in a photo shoot of some urban nike shoes. juan and i hooked up with a local highend urban shoe and clothing company here in old town to do some test shots for them, in hopes of them loving our work and deciding to go ahead with a new marketing strategy involving custom photography.
after a long exhausting work day, i stuck around the studio and once juan arrived we got to work and were here until about 11pm. i feel our outcome was fantastic, a good concept and executed well.
more to come i hope.
i won.
a conversation you would have overheard last friday morning in my office.
michelle: (while opening the mail) so you guys won an addy?
matthew: WHAT!!
michelle: oh you didn't know? it says so right here.
matthew: what for? my october moon photos?
michelle: yep!
so yes. i won. i'm very excited. i won't know if it's a gold or silver until the awards gala on the 23rd of february.
later on friday afternoon i was in the back studio working on a small photoshoot for one of the county health plans when my mom and younger brother show up with a cute little cake saying "congratulations matt!" i love my family! they have been so supportive of me and my creative career through all the small paying jobs and probono work. so it totally made my day!
working on a shoot for premier shoes tonight. at this point its just a test to see if they would like to work with me and juan, but we are pretty excited about the concept. hope to have something up tomorrow here.
