interview. day two.
i had my interview with splashlight studios today. overall i think it went well. its hard to tell sometimes. i had a few flubs while doing the "test" shoot. nothing crucial, but just not completely used to their software of choice. so i was able to trouble shoot what i didn't know, so i think he was able to see i 1) have a good learning curve and 2) don't just stop, i figure it out. i really don't have much more to say about that. i met with the hr lady as well, she was great. she's also an artist, but conceptual, not commercial/editorial, so its cool that she's still a creative and runs the offices hr. i really enjoyed her and she was much easier to read and converse with. i think the guy just takes time to get to know, but he was cool and was from syracuse ny, so we talked about rochester and the cold winters and tried to see if we knew any of the same people (we didn't). it all ended well, they enjoyed my book and commented about what they liked and why, and there are some amazing possibilities with the job, promotions etc and use of amazing equipment on the weekend.
they said they'd be able to let me know either the end of this week or the beginning of next. there are actually a couple positions to be filled, only one is full time, but i'd be interested in either part-time because the benefits of using the equipment and the connections that would be made would be all worth it -- as well as getting me to la.
so after the interview i was in west hollywood so i spent sometime just exploring and waiting for juan to make it out and then go to lunch. we ended up having a late lunch at the kings road cafe, i had eaten there before the last time i was in la, and just loved it. so fresh, great price and great outdoor seating on beverly blvd. so fun.
when i finally made it back to my car it was 630 here so i walked over to the chinese theater where they were holding the "iron man" premier tonight. i obviously have never been to a premier so i figured i better at least check it out. it was crazzy and interesting seeing all that hubbub in person. quite interesting and fun. but i am tired.

oh and the weather is amazing here.
new frontiers. day one.
a lot has been happening the past month. i researched new job opportunities, contacted photographers and creatives in dallas and los angeles, set up a job in dallas, set up an interview in la, quit my current position at p2 to pursue these new possibilities and so much more.
rather than backtrack and explain each of those events. i'm just going to start with today. the day it really all begins.
i am here. in los angeles. i flew on the early morning flight out of detroit, to chicago and then to lax where i picked up my vehicle, of course i get stuck with a white pt cruiser, if that doesn't scream rental car, what does! anyway. i made the 45 min trek up to pasadena to meet up with my amazing friend amy who i am spending the week with. already we have had an fantastic time, and its only 345 la time.
but. all fun aside, my interview is tomorrow morning 10am pst, and i will be very appreciative of all the prayers i know will be prayed for me and this new amazing career move. i'm surprisingly calm, it may be the fact that i got up at 345 est this morning and haven't slept since... yeah, i hope to get a nap in before we head out to dinner tonight.
thats about it. more tomorrow after my interview in west hollywood. ah so exciting and surreal.
